A guitarist by trade, Baye Mahanta Diop is a performer, composer, and arranger, and one of Senegal's most prominent musicians. With a mastery of Mbalakh folk music, jazz, fusion, afrobeat and styles from West and Central Africa, Diop's style is that of the truly international modern musician. From Dakar, Diop has recorded and performed with renowned artists including Cheikh Ndiguel Lo, Manou Dibango, Papa Wemba, Angélique Kidjo, Tandishwa Mazouay and many others. He has prestigious venues in the United States, including Carnegie Hall, in festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz Festival and events in Detroit, Saint Louis, and at the GlobalFEST.
